Pangong Lake (or Pangong Tso; Tso: Ladakhi for lake) is a lake in the Himalayas situated at a height of about 4,250 m (13,900 ft). It is 134 km (83.3 mi) long and extends from India to Tibet. Two thirds of the length of this lake falls in the People's Republic of China. It is 5 km (3 mi) wide at its broadest point. In winter, the lake surface freezes completely despite being salt water. Pangong Tso can be reached in a five-hour drive from Leh, most of it on a rough and dramatic mountain road

- ITINERARY - Day 01 : Leh to Phuktse drive 2.30 Hrs It is the first day so camp at Phuktse will help to prepare to trek the next day. Day 02 : Phuktse to Sumdo via Shara la (Pass) 4.30 Hrs (2.30 Hrs up to top 1.30 Hrs top to Sumdo Camp) No strip climb but climbing down is a bit strip but not so bad like that of Zanskar. Camp site is beautiful by the lake, vast green pasture field, nomads camp, yak and other cattle Possible. Day 03 : Sumdo to Shachukul 4.30 Hrs (Plane) Trek along the village for about 30 minutes, Quite a big Village, Camp by the river green Pasture, close to the biggest monastery of the region Shachukul Gompa monastic festival mask dance of kagud sect on 11th and 12th July etc Day 04 : Shachukul to Zamble rong 4.00 Hrs (Plane) On the way visit a popular taktse gompa on a hill top. Around 70 steps to climb. Green camp site 500meter away from the road. But no vehicular movement in the evening. Day 05 : Zamble rong to Tsekar tso(Lake) 3.30 Hrs (Plane ) On the way two small hamlets, at certain points we use jeep road but we can avoid it any way. We mostly use the ancient tread route. Green pasture is almost all the way, Small River flows the entire way. Camp site 500meter away from the small lake not so attractive. Day 06 : Tsokar to Lukung village 4.30 Hrs This is the only day which may not be so interesting but at the end of the trek you visit the most popular Pangong Lake we can have tea break at the small community tea stall. But for the camp we trek for another half an hour leaving the lake aside. Due to in availability of fresh water and green camp site by the lake. Day 07 : Lukung to Spangmik 12km 4 Hrs Trek along the lake but at two or three points we cant avoid the road any way camp or stay in the spangmik guest house as you wish, it is 200mt away from the lake, visit family is possible, the village is of 10 families and the monastery is 3km away from the village and it is new.Pick up from spangmik to Leh 5hrs drive via Changla about 5000mt pass.
